Save Your Herbs!!

Before the frost comes in and your herbs start to die off remember you can save them to enjoy them through the winter.

#1 Trim a piece of basil (or 2) off and get a glass container fill with water and try to get it to root to plan indoors for the winter.  This could start to grow and be great by summertime! Having a small fresh basil plant indoors is great :)

  • This can be done with almost any herb! Although sometimes is tough to get them to root.  Always use a clear glass jar so that sunlight can get to the bottom. Below I am beginning to root my basil, mint and parsley. I have never had much luck with rooting my parsley...

#2 Trim all your basil leaves and put them in a ziplock bag and freeze.  Pull them out when you are cooking during the winter!

#3: Savor mint in your drink throughout the year using the below diy recipe!

LemonMint Ice Cubes

Ingredients:
  • Fresh Mint
  • Lemon Juice
  • Ice cube trays
  • Scissors
  • Water

  1. Fill the bottom of your ice cube trays with a splash of lemon juice
  2. Add a couple mint leaves
  3. Fill with water and freeze!

I did this a few times and filled up a gallon ziplock bag! It's perfect and refreshing and will be a great treat to add to your water during the winter months!
