Holiday Biscuits

Hey guys! My next guest blog entry is by Aimee from Green Pickles. I found her during the summer when I was dipping my toes into this new blog world (well new for myself!). She's spunky, has great crafts, recipes and awesome giveways! I won one of her giveaways back in the fall and I have never won anything! She's also recently married and making recipes for her new hubby. She gave me this recipe that she has put in her current "Christmas Craft Class".

Christmas Biscuits

"I loved making them and they are great as a little extra for either a gift or for the table or tree on Christmas day. I'm not much of a baker but these biscuits were really fun to make and my hubby thought they tasted delicious so they must be good!"

Ingredients

Flour, 150 gm //Butter, 120 gm //Sugar, 125 gm // Egg, 1 // Baking soda, ½ tsp // Salt, ½ tsp //Vanilla essence, 1 tsp // (You will also need a shape cutter)

Preparation

* First mix butter and sugar, until it becomes fluffy.

* To the mixture, add the egg and vanilla essence. Stir the mixture and blend it well.

* Prepare the dough with flour and baking soda. Then add the salt. Mix this with the butter mixture and blend well.

* Refrigerate for ½ an hour.

* Now apply a small layer of oil or butter over the baking tray.

* Roll out the dough to about 1cm thick with a rolling pin and use the cutter to make the biscuit shapes.

* Once the shapes are all cut, place them onto the baking tray (add a little hole at the top of each one if they are to be made into decorations).

* Preheat the oven for 2-3 min at 190°C and then bake for 8-10 mins. (Keep an eye on them.)

* Take out the tray once the biscuits are done and place them on a wire rack to cool.

Now the fun part:

If you're wanting to give these biscuits as gifts, you could buy or make some little paper bags out of greaseproof paper or cellophane and tie it up with string, adding a cute little lable for each person. You could also add some decorations to the biscuits, like icing or just a little bit of caster sugar. For decorations, you just need some little lengths of ribbon to tie through the holes you made in the top of the biscuits. Then they can be hung on the tree until Christmas (if you can resist them for that long).
